Surprise
To my surprise I found that right out of the box this tool set looked impressive it is light weight and well balanced . The charger is compact and is able to be hung on a wall to keep it out of the way or to install at a charging station, like other competitors charging time is 30-40 min. the two drill are well balanced once the batteries are attached and the fit comfortably in my hand
With the batteries only being 2 Ah they do not last as long as some of the other larger batteries that other manufactures use but for the home DIY this set is perfect and will accomplish most task around the home and yard, the soft case is annoying and a little on the small side if you need to carry around drill bits and other small tools. I think that if this unit is sold with a hard case that could provide some storage it would be a great choice for the DIY that needs other tools like bits and a torpedo level
Yes, I recommend this product.

Bon mais pas pour tous

je suis mécanicien est je trouve qu il vont très bien mais pour l autonomie des batterie c est très médiocre pour le perçage du métal 1h tout au plus pour la menuiserie c peut être bien.
I own quite some tools at home, and usually I only buy brand like DeWALT. This is the first time I try CanadianTire's Mastercraft brand. Honestly I wasn't expect too much from this set, even though it is from the top "Maximum" line. But after using them for two weeks for my flooring project, I am very impressed by the quality and performance of this set! Here are what I like and dislike:
What I like:
1. Very good build quality. Feel very solid in hand while is not heavy. Weight and balance wise they are perfect, being using them 6 - 8 hours in a row and my wrist is as good as when I started.
2. 20v plus brushless provide high torque. Much better than my other 12v ones.
3. Battery is very good. They come with extra batteries. I used up one battery on the drill after 5 hours of work. Decided to put it on charger and see how long it will be fully charged. Surprisingly it only took 35 - 40 min to get it fully charges. So two piece of batteries will support non-stop work.
4. Dual touch is an interesting feature. At first it took me a while to get use to it, but after an hour it become nature to use both fingers. Very convenient afterward.
What I don't like:
1. The soft case is good, but not as good as hard case DeWALT has. It is on the small side so you can not put too many extra staff in it. For indoor work it might be ok, but if you use them outdoor, a bigger hard case will be definitely better.
2. The LED is ok, but prefer to have brightness adjustment
Overall I like them very much. They are maybe not for heavy duty work, but for project like home renovation they are just perfect.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Are there any other Maximum products that use this same battery, ie a jig saw, reciprocating saw
I need to replace my drill, but I was hoping to get one that has the same batter that can be used in other tools.
That way I don't have to have 2 -3 different batteries and charges lying around.

A: Yes, there is a family of Maximum tools that share the same 20V battery system and chargers. There is a circular saw, reciprocating saw, impact wrenches, drill drivers, brushless models, radio, etc. The line continues to expand each year. Visit canadiantire.ca, search 20V tools and then narrow your search to the Maximum brand to see the full selection. Thank you for your interest in Maximum tool products.

Q: What other cordless tools are these batteries compatible with?

1 Answer
A: There are numerous tools that these batteries are compatible with and the assortment continues to expand. Currently, the batteries will power the following Maximum 20V-items: drill driver (54-1349); impact driver (54-3224); impact wrench (54-3245); hammer drill (54-2109); circular saw (54-8254); reciprocating saw (54-8355); radio (54-3259); combination kit drill driver and impact driver (54-3196);brushless dual touch impact driver (54-3185). Also, soon to be available are 3-brushless drivers operating on the same battery platform. We also recommend that you consider the available 4.0Ah battery (54-3206) which is ideal to providing longer run times for the circular and reciprocating saw as well as all drill drivers.

Q: What are the specs?
What are the specifications? For the drill: rpm on LO and HI, torque. For the impact driver: rpm, bpm, torque.
1 Answer
A: The MX BL drill driver on low is 0-560 RPMs and on high is 0-1900. The torque is not claimed as the drill driver is designed with a soft start feature to allow for improved positioning of the screw or drill bit onto the work surface. Most top tier national brand products have a hard start and torque claims are made based on the peak torque immediately upon power engagement.
The MX BL impact driver features 3-speeds. Low is 0-1000 RPMs and 0-2000 BPMs. Medium is 0-1400 RPMs and 0-2800 BPMs. High is 0-2500 RPMs and 0-3500 BPMs. Torque is 1360 in lbs.
