Product Details

The Mastercraft 1/4-HP Dual Function Pump pulls double duty, functioning as both a submersible utility pump and as a non-submersible transfer pump. Designed for temporary installation, this electric utility pump is crafted from corrosion-resistant thermoplastic for optimal durability. This device is ideal for home liquid removal or liquid transfer. Powered by a water-cooled, oil-free 1/4 HP motor, this pump has a maximum flow rate of 1600 GPH (6056 L/h) when used as submersible, and a maximum flow rate of 950 GPH (3596 L/h) when used as non-submersible. This utility water pump is safe to use around fish and plants, and it has a maximum vertical lift of 30’ (9.1m). The suction strainer on this utility pump is designed for water transfer, removing water down to 1/8” (0.3cm). The bottom suction design for water removal filters debris and removes liquids down to ½” (1.1cm). A ¾” (1.9cm) garden hose threaded connection ensures an easy installation process. This product includes a 10’ (3m) power cord.

Great until it leaks

Initially it was great, then after a few days, it began to leak like crazy and water pressure died. I tried tightening up the screw the join the top and bottom pieces, but they were threaded and simply spun. I had to return the item.

Questions

Q: Is it self priming?

3 Answers
  • A: StevieJo is right. When used as a sump pump in more than 1 1/2 inches of water, it doesn’t need priming. Do not operate at less than 1 1/2 inch depth of water. When used in the transfer mode it does need priming. Prime is held by the check valve in the strainer to maintain prime between the pump ‘on’ periods. Please refer to the manual that came with the pump.

Q: Could you tell me the cycle duty of this pump. Can it be used for continuous use without burning up? Thanks

1 Answer
  • A: There are two cycles ... on & off. I would not leave this pump unattended, as it only worked for very small jobs when one gets it to work.
