Product Details

Remove water from narrow sump pits with the Mastercraft 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump, Vertical. Designed for permanent installation, this submersible sump pump features quiet operation, making it ideal for homes with finished basements that require a quiet pump. Powered by 1/2 HP motor, this electric sump pump has a maximum flow rate of 4200 GPH (15,899 L/h). Built-in thermal overload protection prevents the motor from overheating by switching off the basement pump before damage is caused. This submersible utility pump is built from a mix of stainless steel and cast iron for optimum durability. The volute top suction design eliminates air locks and clogging from debris in the bottom of the sump pit, while the cast iron base lends sturdiness to the sump pump. A vertical switch allows for automatic operation. A screwdriver, hacksaw, tape measure, rigid pipe, tongue and groove pliers, zip ties, cement, and a check valve (sold separately) may be required in order to install the pump. This product includes a 10’ (3m) power cord.

    Works fine, not that quiet.

Do the job, easy install but for the quiet part... Not really. I'd not recommend near a living space.

    Sump Pump Shaker

It works great and quickly. The only issue is when it shuts off, it rattles/shakes the pipe all the way up and is a bit loud... not sure why it is doing this...

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 10 Questions

Q: Normal? for water to shoot out cast iron housing. When pump is activated it will pump the water out of the well extremely fast, however water will come out of the cast iron housing while running. Is this normal? Thanks in advance

    • A: Yes, this is normal. The small hole is to prevent airlocking the pump. If the pump doesn't have a built-in hole, you have to drill one between the pump outlet and the check valve to prevent airlock. Airlock happens when air is trapped inside the pump housing and water can't get in to prime the pump. This can happen when the pump well is dry then refills with water but can't enter the housing; kind of like pushing an upside down empty glass into water. The water can't rise up into the glass unless there is a hole to let the air out.

Q: Where can I find the specifications for this pump? I would like to know the diameter of the discharge pipe for this pump. Is it 1 1/2 or 2 in? Also the lift and gallons per minute.

    • A: it has a 2' fitting with it that screws in the pump discharge then you screw in a 11/2 fitting into it. don't use cheap sump hose with this pump. it fills with pin holes in days. It pumps 5000 gal. or 19000 litres per hour at a 3m lift.

Q: Have this pump, just installed a couple weeks ago... it is not quiet as indicated; when it stops it is quite loud and shakes the pipes coming up from it and out of the wall. No idea why?

    • A: I purchased this same pump about 3-4 years ago. It is very quiet. I can only hear it come on when I'm in the basement close enough to hear it. It needs to be on a solid and stable platform and securely attached to the outflow pipe. If it is unbalanced, it would most likely shake the pipe. My pump has to lift the water up about 5.5 feet (about 67 inches) before it turns 90 degrees and heads out of the house. It also has to have a small hole drilled out of the outflow pipe to allow air and some water to be expelled when it is running (a pressure relief hole). I have a backflow valve installed just above that hole to prevent the water in the vertical part of the outflow pipe from coming back down into my sump pit. Hope this helps.

Q: power requirements? for back-up generator

    1 Answer
    • A: The pump uses a 115V, 60Hz motor and using 8 amps. Therefore the watts required of the pump to operate at 60Hz is 920 watts (115V x 8 amps). Additionally, the start amps would potentially be 3 times the running amps. So the pump would draw roughly 2760 watts at start up.
