Not built to last

I was, like most every one else I suppose, looking at Kamado Joe's and finding them repulsively expensive. Got this on sale... loved my first few grills. Unfortunately within 2 months, the top cooking grill was totally rusted and unusable!
It's too bad too. Lots of potential. Not sure if I'm going to purchase a replacement top grill or just... send it to the dump. If I'm going to have to change grills every year... not worth the rebate I got. IF I can even find one.

I have made steaks burgers and I have smoked a pork butt everything came out great it is a learning curve trying to maintain a steady temp as there are a few air leaks that I have noticed now I have a whole pork shoulder in a brine curing it to make ham I plan on smoking it in a week or so on my kamado now that I kind of have it figured out how to control the temperature but I recommend trying burgers or something first and just try to keep some steady temps as you are heating to your desired temperature then you will get a feel for it before you try to do an expensive cut of meat and perhaps ruin it it’s a great grill bet it is not a bbq or a regular charcoal grill if you over shoot your desired temp you can’t get it back down so heat it slowly and shut it down when you get to the temp that you want I would give it 4.5 stars but don’t know how

The grilling result is excellent, the meat is so juicy and we just can't get enough of it. Also it's lighter than ceramic Kamado but cooking is also great!

Q: Can you save the unused charcoal by closing the air vents?

A: By limiting or eliminating the air intake the charcoal will stop burning and you will save the unused charcoal. It should light up as easily the next time you use your BBQ.
