Handy steamer, but feet cannot withstand dry heat.

I had this steaming basket as housewarming gift from my mother, and I started using it recently after being taught how to steam. Attempts 1 and 2 went mostly fine. In attempt 3, I had trouble managing heat/steam and more vegetables and couldn't do them all at the same time; I removed my carrots and cauliflower, added a glass of water, and then added my brocoli. 5 minutes later, the brocoli were done and I set it all aside, I was out of water, the bottom of my cookpot filled with caramelized carrot sugar, and the feet had melted.
I'm not an expert cook, surely, but I can point out that while this steamer works as intended, it isn't forgiving because of the way those feet are built. I'm going to have to replace it and my nonstick cookpot. Please bear in mind before purchasing.

Plastic legs for steamer melted

Horrible I do not recommend. The legs are plastic and melted in the pot. Who’s bright idea to put plastic legs ? What a space cadet.

Too tall for my pots

Product itself seems fine however the centre post is too tall for my pots. I can't put a lid over the steamer. My fault for not thinking about that when I purchased it. Just make sure it's an appropriate size for your cookware.

Stem in the middle is too long and does not adjust so the lid doesn’t fit on the pot. Will be returning.

Q: Re Master Chef Steamer Basket, is there a temperature limitation for use? Can the plastic feet melt at high temperatures when used in pots on stovetops and can it be used (with handle removed) on a baking sheet in a hot oven?

A: It will definitely melt if your steaming runs for too long and you run out of water. Wet heat will get around 100 degrees C, which the feet can tolerate, by dry heat goes up to 200-300C and the feet definitely end up melting. Speaking from experience with this particular item here. Also, the melted feet will not play well with a non-stick cookpot - you'll end up having to replace both.

Q: Re: Master Chef Steamer Basket, will the plastic feet withstand high temperatures such as when standing inside saucepan on electric cook top or is there a temperature limitation. Also can it be used (without handle) on a baking sheet in hot oven?

A: I’ve had no issue with anything, works perfectly and yes, it is made to withstand high heat so it could go in the oven, I wouldn’t put it on broil tho
