Quality and not as advertised

Website says this cooker produces 41000 btu however box actually says 38000 btu. When I opened it up the pot was full of pinholes. The price is great but no matter how cheap or expensive some thing is when you purchase a brand new item you expect it to be usable. This cooker is defiantly goING back to the store.

My only disappointment was that this cooker doesn't come with a strainer basket. To purchase it separately, the cost is almost the same as the cooker itself.

A: In the end it usually takes between 3 and 4 3L jugs of canola oil...read other comments and make sure like they say to taake in consideration turkey size and make sure not to get oil on flame

A: propane is about 20,000 btu per/lb so 41,000btu and 30lb bbq tank will do around 14.6 hours

Q: When cooking a turkey, do you keep the lid on or off? I have cooked turkey with the lid on and off. There appears to be differing opinions among my friends (who have also cooked turkeys) as to whether the lid should be on or off during cooking.

A: Not sure why CT expert is saying lid off.... Instructions clearly say lid should be on to avoid splashing. Not to mention that the only way to keep the thermometer in the oil during cooking is to have the lid on and the thermometer dropped through the tiny hole designed for it.

Q: I just bought one and can't get it to stay lit. When I follow the instructions the flame goes out after I release the push button safety valve... Not sure why this happens...

A: It's a safety feature. The heat from the flame generates a small amount of electricity in the thermocouple that keeps the gas valve open--that's why you have to hold the valve down for a few seconds at start up so the thermocouple can warm up and generate current. If for whatever reason, the flame goes out (you are using this outside after all) then the flow of gas is shut off. As propane is heavier than air it will pool is low lying areas, so if it didn't have this safety feature people would go to re-light the burner and BOOM!

Q: can you cook a whole turkey or do you have to cut it up. Pot doesnt look big enough Looks like turkey would be touching the sides.

A: yes you can cook a whole turkey and it is so much more tastier then doing it in the oven. no grease and it is so tender enjoy..
