Dont buy cant update maps

Bought this yesterday and tried the map update feature. Got an insufficient memory error (memory on device) After searching online found this to be a common error with no ready solution. Tried calling magellan, phone just rang busy. Online site useless Bottom line dont know why CTC is still selling Magellan products. The good news CTC accepted return and gave me my money back. Should have stuck with garmin like i already have. In the past have had magellan products but i would say they have gone downhill

Just bought this device. Too my surprise the model is too old for map updates. Since this particular device is older the storage space is too small for new maps. I do not recommend this product.

Magellan 5520-LM

I have had a Magellan 4040 for several years but could not update the maps so I decided to purchase a new unit. So I got new 5520 LM from Canadian Tire and now I am not happy with it and would like to return it. There is no MANUAL so how do we operate it. There is no power supply unless the Vehicle is running and wasting fuel while we PLAY with this unit to see how it works. The unit may be okay but without operating instructions we may never know. For these reasons I would not RECOMMEND to anyone.

i buy this to day for canadian tire and when home late it sit 4 hr on changer then flowed the in owner book and put it up to me pc and updated and to fined that it did have any date on it and it didn't work and the canadian tire closed and i could not wait till tommore becoues i was lave that night on a tier i am very un happy at this gps and canadian tire for saleing it to me it do's it work grrrrrrr

Poor Lasting Quality

Purchased the Magellan 5520 lm gps 14 months ago from CTC in Brockville. I went to use the Magellan gps recently and the display did not turn on. I contacted Magellan. After several trouble shooting attempts, the Magellan gps still did not work. No screen display. The warranty on this unit is 12 months. Strange that the Magellan gps packed up just after the warranty. Magellan said that all they can do is give me 30% off a new unit. I would not recommend Magellan.

Q: Is it also battery operated and if it is, what is the average duration when running off the battery?
