Q: how is this unit powered?

A: I just purchased this unit today. It takes 8 D-cell batteries which are placed in a battery holder. this is held to the base behind the fish finder.

Q: Can someone tell me how to set this unit up? this unit shows the botton but not the fish on the botton, i use it for cod fishing at 80 to 250 feet. But it don't show the fish, even when we are catching them.
