Takes a real beating

I have one that has had pop and whiskey spilled directly in it so much it’s stuck on the speaker mesh a year later. But it still works and sounds GREAT. I have had this iver 2 years and only have seen 2 other Bluetooth speakers comparable in sound. I have 2 now and run them wired on a split. I love this tiny ittem. Sounds better than most speakers in the same price range as it has some good bass to it. M

Poor build quality

We have one Blue Piston Speaker that we have had for over a year and it still works great. The sound is really nice, blue tooth works... If this was our only experience, I would recommend it.
HOWEVER, my friend got one at the same time and it was a different story. I'm her tech guru so I helped her pair her iphone with the speaker. It connected through bluetooth but there was no sound. So I connected it directly with the supplied cable to the headphone jack on the phone. There was still no sound. Trying it with other devices showed it was faulty.
She contacted the company and got a replacement. I helped her set it up. It was dead too! No sound. We gave up after that. Since I do electronic repairs, I opened one of the broken ones to see if I could fix it. The soldering inside is very sloppy and looks like it could detach easily. I haven't been able to make the speaker work.
I think there is too much of a chance of getting one that doesn't work or breaks soon after to recommend buying this speaker.

Good little speaker

I keep this in my bathroom to listen to music or podcasts while getting ready for work in the morning. It's perfect since it doesn't take up a lot of counter space.

Excellent compact Bluetooth speaker

The Blue Piston is an excellent compact Bluetooth speaker. I've been using it for a year; it is solidly built, pairs easily, has good battery life, and sounds great.
The sound output from this speaker is remarkable especially when you consider the size. It is not the right speaker for a dance party, but provides more than enough volume for a typical living room, dining room, bedroom, balcony, or study. Lyrics are clear, sound reproduction is accurate, and bass is strong, especially on a hard surface. Bluetooth range is about 10m even through a couple of walls.
The unit will turn off automatically after a time if not feed any audio. It beeps annoyingly if battery is low and it's turned on, even if plugged in. Charging is via a regular micro-USB cable as used on most smartphones, kindles, etc.
This unit supports both the high definition audio and telephony profiles. It works for phone calls, but is not ideal for that purpose - it's best for music or podcasts.
