Q: Has any one attached a gate.If so, was the gate pre made and sized to fit without cutting. I would like to buy one but would like one with a gate. If I have to attach one I would only want to add the brackets and lock.

A: We haven’t tried adding a gate but I would think it would be hard to do. If you tried putting screws into the hard plastic I think the plastic would crack and break.

A: I don’t see why not. You’d have to be very careful drilling holes for the hardware as the plastic may crack.

Q: How is this arbor anchored to the ground...and would it be suitable for a wisteria?

A: 4 pvc insert sleeves (approx 1 foot length) are provided with the kit for placement in ground below each leg. Arbor legs drop down over each sleeve and levelling screws provided are used to attach Arbor legs to each insert after placement and levelling. 2"x4" wood lengths could be used instead of inserts to provide more stability in ground but I found that supplied inserts were adequate for stability in light winds.

Q: Can this be fastened on cement with brackets?
What is the widest one that I can purchase locally?
I need it to go over a large walkway to give my clematis' (on both side) room to grow. However, height is important because it's coming down at the last step of the porch.

A: New England Arbors does not make brackets for arbours with posts measuring 2x3.5 inches as it is best to plant it into the ground. That being said, you could purchase “L” brackets from Canadian Tire to fasten the arbour into cement. With regards to dimensions, this arbour stands at 7.6 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
