Destroyed in the first 10 mins of using. So loud it blew my ear drum out. Heard ringing and silence for 3 days after.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Exactly what I wanted

I bought these chains because my camp is 2.5km back in the bush on a road that is only maintained by my family. The chains had excellent instructions with big pictures on a weather resistant sheet for use outdoors. Took 20 minutes to install the chains the first time on all four tires. They gave amazing traction on the hard packed icy road into my place. Definitely recommend.

Right tool or icy roads

Amazing quality - used it in mountain in snowy and icy roads - and they are doing good job. First installation took 40 min, but next one approximately 10-15 min per tire... Used them on my 4Runner TRD offroad. So far so good.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Think twice before you purchase these chains

Purchased these tire chains only to find out they were missing one of the components on the chains to put tension on the chains. They initially would not take them back for they said that once you buy them there is no returning them. They are made of aluminum and if driven on for a short duration they may break or become compromised. Finally talked with a manager and he allowed me to returning them. Not recoomended

Great product

Third set of chains of this brand that I have bought over the years (did not purchase this time from CT as they weren't sure of my size at the time) Purchased the 275/60-20 (2533Q) and it fit as indicated, less than 20 minutes to install. Adequate quality and strength for occasional and emergency use in snow/mud. I have used other sizes in the past and these chains are very good in soft surface applications and keep you from sliding sideways. Hard surface and ice I found the chains still gripped but not predictable as the tire itself loses contact with the road due to the chain style. I will add this set was tight to get on compared to the others I have for other tire sizes 275/60-20 (2533Q). Seems the larger diameter/width tire keeps the chain from sliding around the tire contact patch as easily as the smaller sets I own, might have to roll the tire a few inches to finish the install and do a final tightening. Fit for the rear of a 2015 Dodge 1500 has plenty of room, front end is off limits as the strut coil has less than a fingers width of clearance.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is there an available fit for Tire Size 225 65/17? The chains will be mainly used for highway and small roads, but there's a possibility if the situation calls for it, to do some light off road, to get back onto main a main road. Would these hold up or are correct for a 2014 Cherokee 4x4?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi JVill, The Diamond Back, will hold up to light off-road. Use part number 2519Q, please test fit chains prior to use. For aggressive off-road applications I would advise upgrading to a V-Bar chain. Thank you

Q: CT offers quite a few options for tire chains. How do I know what might be best for my vehicle. Would the more expensive chain system be better? Vehicle is 4WD Toyota highlander. I see chains come two per package. Do I need to buy 2 packages for 4 chains for all tires or are two chains usually okay. Use would be occassional.

1 Answer
  • A: Your choice of chain depends on whether it’s being used on or off road and the frequency of use. If the vehicle is used primarily on road I would recommend the Diamondback chain, it is easy to install and provides forward, backward and lateral traction, it also uses a strong alloy chain for durability. If you are driving mainly off-road I would recommend the V-Bar chain, it uses aggressive studs to bite into whatever surface you’re driving on. As for using 2 or 4 chains, 2 chains will provide adequate traction, but 4 is preferred for equal traction between the front and rear of the vehicle. However, if purchasing 2 sets of chain ensure there is adequate room for chains on the front wheels. Some modern SUV’s will only accommodate chains on the rear wheels.
