Product Details

Krud Kutter The Must for Rust is a superior rust remover and inhibitor. The proprietary formulation penetrates into every void of a metal surface and dissolves rust/oxidation through chemical action. Then tiny, rust-inhibiting crystals are formed and become integral with the surface molecules of the metal to resist future rusting. The corrosive agents attack these crystals instead of the metal. Once completely dry, the surface is ready for the next step, whether it be painting, welding, plating, lubricating, etc. Or simply leave the surface bare, and the crystals will inhibit future rust formation.

  • Krud Kutter The Must For Rust Liquid Rust Remover removes rust and inhibits its return

  • Water-based biodegradable formula works quickly on stubborn rust stains

  • Effective on iron, steel, aluminum, chrome, auto-cooling systems and more

  • Ideal for preparing metal surfaces for painting

Works extremely well with a little patience

Works extremely well removing all surface rust. For deeper rust, chip away loose rust and let Krud Kutter soak in. Keep area wet and keep working away loose rust. With patience you will reach bare metal. Light dried film left over is a good metal prep for direct priming or painting.

Why has it taken me this long to find this product

This is for the gel version of this product but I imagine the liquid version works just as well. I'm a "weekend warrior" detailer and while prepping one of my cars for a ceramic coating found a stone chip right on the leading edge of the hood of our Honda CRV. I last detailed this car probably about 4-5 months ago and this was not there so keep in mind its not like it was rust that was caked on. I first tried another product that we happened to have lying around the house (that most people probably use to clean their coffee machines) and quite unsurprisingly got absolutely nowhere with it. Went out and bought this stuff, sprayed a little on a qtip and just dabbed it on the chip. Let it sit for 10 minutes and this was the result! I was so impressed I stopped what I was doing just to come on here and write this review! I can't believe it has taken me this long to find a product like this that works SOOO well! Just going to clean it now with some rubbing alcohol, put a couple coats on there with a paint pen and call it a day!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent

Within 2 hours, it will get rid of most surface rust. I would remove large amounts with a wire wheel prior however to save product and decrease amount of time needed. This won't eat the metal. Safe on aluminum. I watched an independent YouTube video prior to purchasing and they did a comparison against competitors products - and this faired the best although the most expensive. If you don't mind losing metal or portions of your product that you're treating, I would use muriatic acid instead however.

Fast acting for surface rust

Fast acting for surface rust. Does good job converting & leaving a white rust inhibitor layer. For thicker rust, try "Krud Kutter: The Must for Rust" Gel. Both work awesome!

Q: My patio frame is rusted. This production should be good to help me clean it but would it be safe for my dogs?

2 Answers
  • A: The product is essentially phosphoric acid. Don't let your dogs lick or touch the product while it is activating. You're supposed to leave the product on for 20 minutes. It converts the iron. After the rust is converted, you can clean off any residue. Any residue may look like white. If you use water, you could cause rust to start again. You could use isopropyl alcohol to clean any residue... it has no water to start the corrosion process again. You should paint or protect your metal furniture so it doesn't rust again. Either way, it will be safe for your dogs after the furniture is cleaned of residue, or repainted with latex paint.

Q: Is it safe to use when removing rust on a steel truck frame? There are wires passing in certain areas and plastic covers that I don't want damaged. I wouldn't apply the product directly to them but it will likely runoff onto them as the frame is soaking

Q: Can this product be used on hockey jersey grommets

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Rick, Great question! As long as the grommets are made of rust, our Krud Kutter Rust Remover & Inhibitor can be used. We recommend removing the grommets if you can or protect the surrounding material as the cleaner may cause damage. It's always best to test on a small area first.

Q: how to use it does this product need to bath or just paint on the part I need remove rust? thanks

1 Answer
  • A: To dissolve rust from iron, or steel, apply the remover as required to penetrate the rust (either brush on, or immerse). Chemical action begins at once. Cleaning time will vary according to the rust. Medium to light rust will be dissolved in 30 minutes or less, while heavier deposits may require a second application.
