Very convenient and versatile clamping me:hanism. Universal fit means it can be attached to many different points on the rack if my quad. Only criticism would be the clips to secure the clamps to the base plates seem like they could easily break...

Used them to hold my ice auger

I bought these to mount on the lid of a cargo box on the back of my snowmobile. The rachetting feature works well to hold the shaft but is only adequate to hold the lower section as it doesn’t fit perfectly beteeen the flytes.

Great clamps!

Great clamps! Allows me to lightly clamp my firearm inside its soft case, this holds it securely in place but I can still unzip the end of the case and slide my firearm in and out without readjusting clamps. Also holds many manual tools like shovels, axes and rakes. I have even secured my chainsaw and ice auger with these! Beware of gas/oil as this can break down the soft rubber inside grips. That said, my last clamps still lasted 12 years!

They're OK but overpriced

Installed these on a Honda Pioneer 520 that has roof and windshield front and back. Intended to be a gun holder. If you have windshields. it becomes a difficult installation. They hold fairly securely but the buttons to release are very difficult to depress. A scoped rifle will have to be gripped on the rear stock, not the grip which would be more secure. Not a quick release in any case. Double the price of the Xls. which might have been better for my purposes.

Q: On the Kolpin ratcheting Rhino grips, a review says the rubber gets sticky over time and makes a mess. They recommended against purchasing this product until they improve their rubber quality. Is that true?

A: The purpose of the rubber being soft is to be protective for everything that is in the grips. The only time you’ll see an issue is if petroleum based products are spilled onto rubber which is a common reaction of any rubber base product.
