I believe it works

I used this flush on low mileage car before removing valve cover to fix valve cover gasket and oil change right after . I don't if it is so effective as claimed by manufacturer but old oil came out black not as typical brown after 10k so it seams that did some work . After opening valve cover the valve train looked clean but car is low mileage so hard to judge it . Engine flush is working but I can't tell how efficient would be on older higher km cars/engines . I would recommend more frequent engine flushing maybe every forth oil change.

Q: Can i add this after changing my engine oil and let it stay in my engine till the next service?

2 Answers
  • A: No! This is supposed to be in your engine for 5 minutes before you do the oil change, don't drive your car with it in your motor!

Q: Can I use this product to flush my engine when I have had Seafoam additive in the oil since the last change? What I mean is that the oil I'm about to change has the Seafoam in it to clean the engine as I was driving.

  • A: I did exactly that without any problems. The kleen flo is only in the engine for 5 minutes, so the potential to do harm is low.

Q: Should cars that have used conventional motor oil for years switch to synthetic motor oil? Also, can conventioanl & synthetic oil be mixed? My mechanic says I should stay with conventional oil, for fear of leaks if I switch to synthetic in my 10 year old car.

1 Answer
  • A: The correct grade of oil to use will be listed in the automobile owner’s manual. As far as whether to use a conventional or synthetic - that depends on the driver, the conditions and the type of driving that you do. Both conventional and synthetic oils will protect your engine – synthetic oils provide superior protection to conventional oils. Synthetics also provide much better protection at extreme temperatures and severe driving conditions. Some automobiles do require synthetic oils – this would also be mentioned in the owner’s manual. Conventional and synthetic motor oils can be used interchangeably where appropriate. Switching between conventional and synthetic oils will not cause any engine issues. There is no need to flush when switching between conventional and synthetic. We always recommend following the guidelines of the engine manufacturer for the recommended oil (i.e. SAE grade, API rating and manufacturer specifications) specific to your application. This information can always be found in the vehicles owner’s manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly.

Q: Why shouldn't cars over 250,000 kms. use engine flush? That's part of the response Canadian Tire experts gave about how and when to use Kleen Flo engine flush. It's also featured on your how to change oil video.

1 Answer
  • A: Typically we do not recommend an engine oil flush with cars over 250,000 km. because in very old cars an engine flush may clean the engine components too well. In older engines especially those whose service record is unknown or that have never had a flush before the gunk can act as a spackle in non-metallic parts like seals. Seals tend to crack with age and cleaning out the gunk can expose the aged seals

Q: How and when to use

1 Answer
  • A: How: Ensure oil level is full. Add kleen-Flo Engine Flush to crankcase and run engine for 5 minutes. Drain oil and replace filter. When: If an oil interval has been extended or once in the spring and fall as oil changes are required. Vehicles with over 250,000 km's should not be flushed in addition to cars with obvious mechanical and/or predisposed mechanical issues.
