Great for thicker batters

When working with batters that become very stiff very fast, this paddle attachment (ours only had the surround, not the post in the middle) is very helpful to keep the motor from straining and overheating. the rubber spatula does a great job of grabbing ingredients from the side of the bowl but you still have to lower the bowl to mix out the bottom from time to time. By using the beater with only the perimeter structure, you don't overwork the dough. Glad to have found it since my 5.0 series pro mixer is now considered a dinosaur.

Make sure you get the correct one for your machine. There is the bowl lift, and the tilt head models and each are slightly different. I got this and made whipped shortbread in the same evening, turned out fantastic! I was worried it might be plastic because of the white coating, however it is made of metal which I prefer for durability.

A: I have the professional HD Model # KG25H7XER and this flex edge beater did not work with my machine, too wide, metal part hit the side of the bowl. I called kitchenaid and they do not have a flex edge to fit this model.

Q: The box clearly says 5.5 or 6 quart bowls and the Pro 5 product number is not included in the list of fitting models #. Does this fit the 5 qt Pro 5?
