    • A: Opps, follow up on Kathie use in a oil burner stove; it’s instructions say it requires a hot bed of coals, so maybe it’s not for an oil burner🤷‍♂️

Q: Is this product as efficient as the CSL logs?

    1 Answer
    • A: This product is more efficient then the CSL logs as it is a maintenance program used regularly instead of just once per use. If you have a clogged chimney a one use product would probably not clear the blockage

Q: Can I use this product on a forced air wood furnace?

    1 Answer
    • A: Kathite was originally used in forced air oil furnaces during 1950-1970’s when they were popular. I am sure a forced air wood furnace would have no issues

Q: how often should this be used?

    1 Answer
    • A: The general instructions are to use two capfuls on a low coal fire. If you used it every fire you would clean your chimney faster and keep it clean. As per the vendor's website: If you have recently had your chimney cleaned and inspected you should use Kathite every other fire. If you have not had any work done on your chimney, use Kathite every fire until you get your chimney cleaned/cleared*. You can purchase a chimney cleaning brush from any hardware store and scrub out the chimney yourself. (*Note: It is imperative that you have your chimney cleared as soon as possible and work with extreme caution when cleaning or repairing a chimney) Once this has been completed and you are sure your chimney is not blocked, continue using Kathite every other fire. Question: I burn constantly, when should I add Kathite? Answer: When burning constantly, we have suggested you use Kathite on the 2nd or 3rd night of a burn, at a point when the fire is low and coal based, just add two capfuls of Kathite to the fire. Let it sit for minimum 2 hours (3 would be ideal) and then feel free to add more wood after the 2-3 hour break. Repeat this process every 2-3 days depending on how clogged you feel the chimney is.
