I have used these on many backpacking trips. I used to be big on carrying a filter, but prefer this if I know the water will be relatively clear to avoid the extra cleanup and maintenance that comes with filters. Just be sure to read the directions as this does take longer to work in cold water.

I always keep these tablets in my day pack. I also use them as my backup purification plan when backpacking. They weigh nothing and assure you never are without clean water.

I have not used the product yet, but these are excellent to have in a pack just in case. I’ve carried these for hiking, camping, and hunting. I’m glad I have not had to use them yet, but this brand is reputable and it gives me a piece of mind if I ever need to use them.

Q: What is the shelf life of this product ?

A: The official answer from Katadyn is ten years from the manufacturer's date of the product. But if you've already purchased them, I'd imagine it would probably be longer under the proper conditions. I would easily trust this product up to about 15 years if it was properly packaged and the pill inside appeared in good shape, personally. But of course, it's always best to obey manufacturers advisement of ten years shelf life.
