I am very happy with laser level.

I built my own garage this summer. I used this laser level to level forms for pouring 24'x24' concrete slab, to check cement block level and to set starter strip for vinyl siding. This level was very accurate. For siding I set laser level on uneven surfaces and adjusted tripod. Then I made marks on both corners of all 4 walls with a felt marker. The last corner mark, after 4 sides and 96 feet, overlapped the 1st mark I had made. I had to use it in low light but the accuracy was what I wanted. I am very happy with this purchase.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    only useful in the dark

I bought this to use along with my other orange Johnson laser leveler. I thought it was the same unit but with a gray body. It is definitely not the same. The intensity of this unit is so low that I can't use it in my indoor space because the laser isn't visible. My $2 laser keychain is more powerful.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Laser = Good , Tripod = Junk

The laser performs great in low light conditions, it isn't great in situations with a lot of daylight. Overall, I am happy with the laser level itself. However, the tripod that it comes with is junk. 4 of locking tabs on the tripod are now broken after only a dozen uses. But for the price, you can't expect to get a good tripod with it. I now use my $250 carbon fibre tripod purchased for photography with it. I can only give it 3 stars because of the poor quality tripod. I am very happy with the actual laser level functionality at this time.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Sometimes you DON'T get what you paid for

The tripod leg fasteners broke on first use (2 out of the 3, one cracked, the other fell off). The level itself seemed OK but the laser intesity was so low that it could only be used indoors with low lighting. The self leveling has the laser housing suspended on two axis' to adjust in vertical and horizontal, with the on/off knob also locking the laser assembly in place for transport. The problem is the knob is not exactly "easy" to turn and will move your line to engage/disengage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Does it measure at right angles I know I may sound rather naive, but I was wondering if this thing measures around corners etc. E.G. If I set it up a foot from the wall, point it at the wall... will it hit the wall and then project a beam along the wall?

    3 Answers
    • A: Yes, but the closer you get to the wall, the shorter the horizontal level line will appear. I used it to hang a suspended ceiling and set it up in the middle of the room.

Q: CAN THIS LAZER LEVEL BE USED FOR OUTDOOR BUILDONG FOOTINGS

    3 Answers
    • A: Absolutely not - I purchased this to do some outdoor construction and the laser intesity was so low as to be unusable. It would have to be pitch black outside, and doing footings in the dark would not be fun.

Q: For the tripod laser level (johnson?) i would like to get a laser detector to improve use outside. Is there a specific laser detector that i need to buy or can it be any red laser detector?

    1 Answer
    • A: This product will not work with a laser detector as it doesn’t have a “pulse mode”. Laser level Detectors require “pulse modes” to read the light.

    Translate with Google
    1 Answer
    • A: Il semble que les lignes entre verticale et horizontale peut être un peu différent. La ligne horizontale est normalement plus longue que la ligne verticale dans un site d'application. D'où la distribution de la lumière sur le plan horizontal est plus grande.
