I ain't Mr Fixit..but
I bought the 14.4 V Jobmate tools, including a reciprocating more than 15 years ago roughly. I remember tossing a battery or two along the way, but yesterday read to charge it up, and tape the drill in the run position and just let it run down. Then fully charge it.
My battery was dead yesterday, not charged in at least 3 years.. and I charged it overnight. To my surprise and happiness, my drill has already been running with no load for half an hour straight and still going.
Maybe I was a little hasty with my other batteries.
Other recommendations have fuller and better usage information so I'll just leave it at that. Cheers.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Jobmate 14.4V rechargeable battery- great product
11 years ago
I have had very good experience with the Jobmate 14.4V rechargeable battery from Canadian Tire. I bought the Jobmate drill + battery in March 2003 and the original battery lasted over 10 years, with occasional home-use, until 2014, when it stopped taking a full charge, heating up the charger, and running the drill only for a minute. So I bought a 2nd battery in Jan. 2014, and it holds a charge very well, even after a month or two of idle time. I finally disposed of the original 2003 battery in November 2014. and last week I bought another battery as a spare for my Jan. 2014 battery. I only charge the battery if it runs down, or before I start a project. The Jobmate drill itself is Great, an excellent value, runs great after 11 years.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have 3 of these batteries and they are all dead ! The Job Mate batteries only last about 6 months and I am tired of having to buy new batteries for the Job Mate products. Don't waste your money or your time on Job Mate products with rechargeable batteries. Go with anything else. Now, I am stuck with 3 tools that take the Rechargeable batteries that are useless to me and I do not want to waste any more money on buying more batteries because they only last about 6 months tops. So I will probably end up throw away the 3 tools I have and have to go out and buy all new tools but I can Guarantee it will not be Job Mate !
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Does the jobmate drill have a built in charger and if so, where does the wall adapter plug in?
A staff member at CNT. tire tells me the wall adapter plugs in to drill and charges the battery, but I cannot find the fm. plug on the drill.

A: It dose not have a built in charger. The charger consist of two pieces an AC Adapter and a charging base. The AC Adapter plugs into the outlet and the cord coming from that AC plug into a base and not directly into the Drill its self.

A: Unfortunately JobMate replacement chargers are available. I read that the Ryobi could charge Mastercraft batteries (another CDN Tire brand) and verified that the "style" of the Ryobi batteries and the JobMate batteries was the same and took a chance. Yay! The Ryobi multi-volt battery charger works wonderfully and charges the JobMate (14.4v) batteries just fine. For $11 (online-shipping cost more than the charger) my cordless drill is rescued. I expect it will charge 12v and 18v batteries as well but cannot verify that.
