Q: Do these fertilizer spikes tend to negatively affect the grass around a fruit tree?

    1 Answer
    • A: Thank you for your inquiry, Matt. The short answer is no, if used correctly. When driven into the ground per the instructions, most of the fertilizer will be underneath the grass layer and will not feed the grass. However, some dust, flecks, or chips may come off the spike and land in the grass and that could cause a dark green lush spot to appear. However, if the spike is not driven 2” below the surface of the soil, it can cause root burn on the grass which could result in a brown or bare spot developing. Hope this helps! - The Jobe’s Company

Q: Could one of these be used with a potted citrus plant in a 10" pot?

    1 Answer
    • A: These spikes are more intended for use with outdoor plants. However you could use them if you break off a small piece to reduce the dosage of the spike, to reduce the risk of plant burn. See image below:

Q: Another person has asked about using them in pots and the answer was to break off a bit of the spikes. I have seedlings in a 6" pot. Should I follow the recommendation on your site for granules of 1.5 tbsp per 4" pot.
