Shifter Assembly

Accidentally got a little to dremel happy cutting a notch in my car shifter assembly. Used this to patch the hole in the plastic that the shifter makes contact with and so far very impressed. It set in very hard and sanded nicely. I hope it holds up, but so far have no reason to believe it won't

Q: How to remove plastic repair putty from plastic? I put plastic repair putty on plastic. can you please let me know how to remove because it is not fix properly.

1 Answer
  • A: This is a difficult to remove. My recommendation is as follows: Aim a heat gun at the epoxy for several minutes. The objective is to raise the epoxy temperature to over 200 degrees, its softening point. Work the heat gun in small strokes, rather than letting it maintain at the same position for minutes at a time. If the epoxy is on a plastic or wooden surface, keep an eye on the surface so you don't warm it up too much and burn it.[3] Rather than using a heat gun, you can use a soldering iron. After the iron is heated, apply it directly to a specific area of the epoxy bond line. This will soften the epoxy.
