Not legal to ride in Ottawa?

Due to provincial and municipal laws this scooter may be illegal to ride on public byways. Reasons: has a seat and a basket attached all are prohibited on city roads and paths. The iZip Align Adult Seated Electric Scooter is not legal to ride on public roads, bike lanes, or multi-use pathways in Ottawa.Why it is illegalThe Seat Rule: Under Ontario’s provincial e-scooter pilot framework (which Ottawa follows), a legal electric kick-scooter must not have a seat, pedals, or a basket.Vehicle Classification: Because the iZip Align is a seated scooter, it does not qualify as an electric kick-scooter. Instead, it falls outside the pilot rules and is treated as a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act, meaning it cannot legally be driven on public city infrastructure without a license, registration, and insurance.Where you can use itPrivate Property: You can legally ride a seated electric scooter on private property with the owner's permission.Prohibited Areas: You cannot operate it on Ottawa streets, bike lanes, sidewalks, or City/NCC multi-use pathways.

Range is enough for short adventures. Its Very comfortable. The basket is great for a small cooler with snacks and drinks. Its a nice size im 6' tall and 175 lbs. Build quality is excellent very solid! Folds up and fits in my suv perfectly. If i could change anything about id say a 500w motor and 40 km range would be nice. Highly recommend!
