Strong and fast but doesn't last long

I have had to replace this bilge pump every year. Water leaks into the motor compartment and it dies. I think I will try opening it up and placing a silicon bead along the inside edge. I love it though because it is such a fast pump. I replaced my bilge hose with a larger diameter one to match this pump so it's hard to switch back to a slower pump. I think it should be priced at about $69.

I use it as a sump pump

I bought this last year when I needed a battery-backed sump pump and everybody was sold out. I have it hooked up to a marine battery and charger and set to come on before the main pump kicks in. It ran almost continuously for 2 weeks. This spring it has been running every 10 minutes for 3 weeks. No problems, never fails, empties the sump in about 1 minute.

Q: What is the maximum lift on this pump?

A: The max lift on this 1500 GPH is 17’. Please note however, this will hinder performance output of the pump if the rise is at the maximum. The average bilge pump loses 10% performance per foot of lift (100% efficiency being directly horizontal). Please also be aware that hose type can have an effect on the output performance (smooth vs. corrugated).
