    Thank you for your review,

    Good package and value price!

I mounted this unit in my old 16 ft. Lund aluminum utility boat. I used a garden tractor battery for power. I appreciated that the combo package came with everything needed for the job, including a thru-hull fitting for the outflow hose. (I did need to buy a 1" hole saw to make an opening for the outlet hose). The float installation instructions are a little confusing - at least, to me. And, as it's an aluminum boat, there's no way to screw down the float switch without puncturing the hull. In the end, I just stuck the switch base to the bottom of the boat - on the same level as the pump - using some bathroom/kitchen white silicone. It seems to be holding just fine. I didn't need to glue or screw the pump itself to the boat bottom; it's held in place quite comfortably by the tension from the outlet hose. Your situation may be different. For the wiring instructions, the internet is better than the printed instructions. It took me a while to be sure that I had correctly wired for both manual and float switches. (Canadian Tire sells weatherproof manual toggle switches for $9.99.) To test the pump, I simply pulled the drain plug out of the boat, and sat there while it started to fill. The pump kicked on and ran like a champ. It threw a good jet of water out the side of the boat. I put the drain plug back in, and the pump quickly drained the water down to about 1/4" and then switched off. The rest was easy to clean up with a big sponge. I'm really happy with the result. We've had so much rain this spring that I was sick of baling my old "tinny" every morning. Now that chore is off the list - wish I'd done this 20 years ago! This combo package was priced lower than a slightly higher-volume pump on its own, by the same manufacturer. For any boat under 20 ft., I don't think you need more than 600 GPH. If you're taking in more than 600 gallons in an hour, you've obviously got more than rain or a slow leak to worry about! I can't speak to long-term performance - it's only been a couple of weeks - but the pump is simple and I expect it will work just fine for years. I can recommend this product on that basis.

    Not impressed

Spent a few hours doing the install, siliconed the float switch in the best possible position. One month later float switched craps out! Now I had to dismantle the entire wire harness and crawl around determining what had failed.

    Useless Purchase.

The wiring diagram did not coincide with the 3 way switch diagram from the same manufacturer. Could not get it to work. So I returned it.

    Questions

    1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: What is the warranty on this product? What diameter outlet pipe can be accommodated? Could you run this pump off a 12V battery connected to 100V? Also, what are the dimensions of this bilge pump?

    1 Answer
    • A: There is a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty for our pumps. The outlet pipe has an outlet diameter of ¾”. For the question of what voltage the pump can run? - as long as you can isolate 12V to the pump from your 100V system then yes, if not - no. This pump is only designed to run at 12V.

Q: what type of battery is required? would an automotive 12 volt work?

    1 Answer
    • A: A 12 Volt Battery would work. 12 volt car batteries will work as well. Marine batteries are better sealed for boating applications, but car batteries can work
