No battery, low visibility

The tool does the job ok. However, for the price I was disappointed to learn that it has no battery and when you disconnect it from the car you do not have access to the data. The other issue, the screen is not bright at all. You need lighting to see it.

Q: Hi, how do I install the batteries, and where do they go? Usually there is a slide-off panel for battery access, this unit does not have that, just screws on the back. I didn't want to open it up in case it damages something...

A: I bought a EQUUS 3030 today (Nov. 3, 2013) on sale and info on the box says this tool can read ABS codes (OBD2 + ABS with Emission Readiness Advisor). Looks like this is an upgraded version.

Q: does is delete the obd 2 codes

A: The code may even come back on immediately, if it is say a lambda sensor problem. Or it may not come on again until the problem becomes apparent, say for example when you hit highway speeds. When you test drive a used car, always put it through its paces. The unscrupulous may have recently cleared active codes .

A: Canadian Tire doesn't allow returns on this kind of items, that's what they told me when I bought mine. I believe is to avoid people buying, using it to diagnostic their vehicle and get their money back by returning it.

A: Does my car have OBD II? All 1996 and newer model year gasoline and alternate fuel passenger cars and trucks are required to have OBD II systems. All 1997 and newer model year diesel fueled passenger cars and trucks are also required to meet the OBD II requirements.

Q: Is there an adaptor avIlable to connect it to a motorcycle? I have a 2014 Honda ctx1300 with my check engine, ABS, and Traction Control lights on. I local dealer is booking into October

A: Can you use a car OBD scanner on a motorcycle? Some motorcycle brands like Harley Davidson have implemented on-board diagnostics across all their models for many years now.
