Great product, great price!

Got it on clearance and what a deal. Part of the reason why I ordered it was because of the 1 year exchange warranty at any Canadian tire on this boat. I was worried about purchasing an inflatable boat so the warranty eased my mind. One of the bladders popped on me while pumping, and Canadian tire stood behind the warranty and exchange my boat for a new one. Make sure the outer shell is zipped up before you fully pump the bladders. I don't ink my boat had instructions. I unzipped the nylon she'll to adjust the bladder before pumping and forgot to zip it back up and I think that's what caused the bladder to pop.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Decent portable kayak

Bought this on sale, and was pleasantly surprised. The build of the kayak is very good, and is fairly easy to paddle. It has a fixed skeg, nubby small as it is, would have been nice to have a attachable larger fin to help it track straighter. It isn't as stiff as the high pressure inflatables, but good enough considering it's half the price of many other inflatables. It's light enough to backpack in to a lake if needed. Although it doesn't come with any bag or backpack, so would need to get a large duffle or such to transport the kayak. As others have mentioned, the paddles are the only drawback to the package. You can get by with the arm buster paddles provided, or expect to spend another hundred plus bucks to get a decent paddle that won't flop on you, and wear down your arms.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great product, easy to inflate!

We wanted something easy to carry around, without taking too much space, but anything inflatable needed to be sturdy enough. This one fits the bill. The inflatable portion is covered with very thick material all around, and the bottom portion is some heavy vinyl, which slide easier. Quite quick to inflate with the included pump, very efficient, kids had no problem doing it. Deflating it is a bit more tricky, as you have to remove the bigger plug first, as it allows the kayak to deflate by itself for the most part. Once figured, all is well. Paddles are indeed a bit short, and caution is needed as some parts can fall in water if not tighten properly. Very nice on the water, great for the kids and adults as well. If you need something that is easily transported, that is a good choice.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great purchase

We have proper high capacity single kayaks, so we just bought this boat with the intention of taking it on vacations to the the Caribbean/Mexico during the winter. However it is also fun to paddle in the summer! Very comfortable, tracks well thanks to the two little skegs on the bottom, easy to inflate, and so light! It will definitely come with us (it will fit in a duffel bag) next time we go south. My partner also likes to take it out solo with his dog in the front compartment. It is so light that beaching it on a rough surface is not an issue - you can just get out while in the water and carry it to land. Downsides - It would probably be awful in a high wind, and the paddles that it comes with are useless - much too short. The snap-in kit bag interferes with the ability to paddle for the front person.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great kayak

We enjoyed using it all summer on the Grand & Speed rivers in Cambridge Ontario. It's light weight and easy to load & unload. Very durable & we're looking forward to more fun on the water in 2015.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: Is it possible to rearrange the seats to paddle solo? I'm a large guy (325 lbs), so I'm looking for a recreational kayak that holds my weight. In addition, does the kayak buckle if the weight is concentrated in the center?

2 Answers
  • A: Seats can be rearranged to your liking, but paddling from the middle portion is harder as it is wider there. A longer paddle may allow you to reach out a bit more from that position though. I don't think the kayak would buckle much as it seems fairly sturdy once properly inflated.

Q: Small grey inflatable pouch I purchased this kayak and it came with a small plastic, light grey, inflatable pouch. I don't see this part listed anywhere in the instructions and I can't figure out where it goes.

  • A: Wondered about the same thing. I thought it could be to put in the extremity to keep the form of the Kayak. We ended up putting it in one of the boat's extremity, where my five year old sun used it as a small seat.

Q: Is it flimsy Is this flimsy like a blow up boat? I've had blow up boats and they are terrible. Is this more on the hard side kinda like rubber? I know it's not rubber but just as an example. Thank you

  • A: I did not want anything flimsy either. Seems very sturdy, with the top layer protecting the inflatable portion. Same on the bottom except it seems to be heavy duty Vinyl. I would not leave it in the sun to ensure to keep the material in optimal shape.

Q: According to all kayak paddle charts online, for a person who is 5’7”, for a kayak this size the correct paddle length is 240cm (94-95”).   CdnTire mostly seems to sell kids/shorter-person (5’5”) paddles (220cm paddles).  What size comes with this kayak?

Q: how would this fare going over river rock, tough enough on the bottom?

  • A: Thank you for your interest in our Hydro Force Kayak. It would not fare well going over rock, as it has a PVC bottom, and would tear.
