Q: Do I need to prime the surface first? With what? What prep is needed on painted floors?

A: You do not need to prime the surface first but we recommend clearing the surface of any debris for optimal results. If you are washing the surface first (with a pressure washer/hose), please let the surface dry completely.

Q: Does this product prevent oil staining? I'm looking for an alternative to the epoxy coating systems that are more difficult to apply and take more work to get the coating right.

A: The Hot Trax product will resist staining as long as the contaminant is cleaned up immediately. If contaminant is left on surface it will stain. Certain oils containing aggressive chemicals will cause stains if left on the surface for an extended period of time.

Q: Is this product slippery when finished?

A: Hot Trax is a low satin finish concrete coating. This low satin finish minimizes any slipperiness when walking or driving. Care should always be exercised if there is standing water or snow on the floor.

Q: How much floor space will this cover, Square Feet, single garage, double garage.

A: The spread rate on Hot Trax is 300 to 400 square feet per 3.79 L. However, Actual spread rate will vary based upon numerous factors, including texture of the substrate, application method, waste, surface porosity and thinning. The Theoretical Spread Rate of 400 Sq. ft. per 3.79L has not taken into account these factors and is only based upon the volume solids of this product and the recommended wet film thickness when applied to a smooth substrate.

Q: how long dose it take to dry

A: HOTTRAX™ will be tack free in 2-4 hours, depending on air temperature and humidity. The higher the temperature or humidity the longer the dry time will be. In general, this product can be walked on in 24 hours and vehicles can be parked on HOTTRAX™ in 5 - 7 days. In high humidity and temperature the product should be left longer than 5 days to cure before parking on it.
