Solid anchors

The Hillman hollow wall anchors work great. I used three for one end of a grab bar; it ecured it very solid to gyprock wall.

Great drywall anchors for heavier wall hangings

These anchors are great when the little plastic ones aren't enough. I recently used these on an outer wall with vapour barrier and insulation behind the drywall. I had to hold the front of the bolt with pliers while turning the screw, to prevent the entire bolt from spinning. It was tricky, but the result was satisfactory. Good-sized package, as the smaller ones only contain 3 anchors.

The anchor “teeth” wont attach properly to the drywall so even if it expand on the inside, the whole unit will move and won’t make it sturdy and safe

Q: How long is the anchor prior to collapse (i.e., before use)? I need an anchor for thin panel board (e.g., 1/8 of an inch thick) that is under 1.25 inches long.

A: Sorry, it was for the 1/8" (5) pack. Anyway, I found out elsewhere that they normally come in XS, S, M, L lengths of which I needed the XS one. Not a problem if I am shopping instore and I can see the item and package but pretty critical information when shopping online and there's just one product photo that is hard to tell the size from. Did not want to risk get the wrong size so ended up going to a competitor store that had the sizes properly noted so that I didn't need to risk wasting my time picking up a set that would not fit my requirements.
