Pulley Problems

a month ago

A pulley is a pulley, and when the furnace fan goes down, it might be the solution. Two things: 1) the previous pulley dies in less than a year - side broke off; 2) I suggest you examine the pulley for the correct size, not the label on the bin.

Q: Does the bore fit a flat or tapered shaft?

A: Fractional horse power (FHP) pulleys should be used on flat shafts with or without a key way and secured with setscrew. This will allow for the proper power transmission between the shaft and the drive component via the v-belt. Note that FHP pulleys should only be used for transmission of power from a motor source less than 1 horsepower. Using a flat shaft pulley on a tapered shaft may cause v-pulley wobble, due to the angle of the taper.

Q: The bore of this pulley is mentioned as 5/8" in the answers below, but one person mentioned this pulley is also available with a 3/4" bore. Could someone provide the CT Part number for the 3/4" bore version?

A: 1.what is the diameter of the axle this pulley fits on? Overall diameter is 7" and the bore (arbor size) is 5/8" diameter. It is also available in a 3/4" bore as well. 2.what is the size of the machine screw it requires? The set screw size is 5/16"-18 pitch thread which is also available in-store. Product number#56-5797.
