Q: This is a question concerning my Hamilton Beach Durathon iron. I received this iron as a gift just over a year ago and have only ever used it dry without steam. I went to use it 2 days and it won’t turn on. Any recommendations?

Q: What kind of water is used in Hamilton Beach Durathon iron?

A: Stormy, we recommend consumers use tap water, unless your tap water is extremely hard, and then mix 50% tap water and 50% distilled water. The minerals in tap water season and protect the steam chamber of the iron. Distilled water is very pure, contains no minerals and reacts with the carbon dioxide in the air to become acidic (as low as pH of 5) which can be corrosive and very aggressive to the soft aluminum steam chamber of an iron, and plumbing.
