Reuse straw

The question asked on this product is quite old now, but it's still relevant. Can you reuse the straws? Yes. Take a pair of needle nosed pliers and hold the part the straw screws down to, to hold it firm, then unscrew the straw. If there are clips that hold it down, break them with an exacto or precision screw driver (flat head), anything that'll do the job. Once unscrewed, get the Spray Foam Gun Cleaner (it's aerosolized Acetone) and spray it through the base of the straw with the trigger engaged, you should see liquified spray foam coming out the tip of the straw. Do this until the fluid is clear, or if the straw is clear, you can see there is no remaining sprayfoam. You will also need to spray the nosel port on the can where the foam dispenses to clear it out. When you do it, you'll know you're done when you can see it's hollow on the inside (you won't see any sprayfoam onstruction) If you do this correctly, you'll be able to reuse the can until it's empty rather than having the throw out a part can.

I used this to spray, along with steel wool in some places, around plumbing and wiring coming up into an RV to help out mice. I didn't have any so that's good.

Q: The straw that is used to get the stuff out of Great Stuff pestblock is one-time use only. Do you sell straws only?

1 Answer

A: The foam will harden in the straw if it is exposed to air. One way to re-use the straw is to put a nail or screw in the end so that the air doesn’t get to it or you could tape up the end so the air doesn’t get in. In any case, the straws aren’t meant for multiple applications. We do not sell straws separately.
