    Defective item and bad service

    This unit would not connect to the internet, which after downloading all the info needed to make it work, which also took over an hour. Very disappointed. Then when came to return the item as defective I was told I would have to accept an in-store credit as the item is used and could not be resold. I said it is defective and should not be resold. This fell on deaf ears of the 18-year-old working in customer service. I have the in-store credit as I do shop at Canadian Tire a lot. But disappointed in the product and the service.

    I wish I never bought this product. Scheduling don't work, can't just keep at one temp. I come home and the thing was set for 24, but it was showing 22, blowing cold. Connected with Google is silly, doesn't work, miss out on a bunch of setting. Wish I bought Honeywell , way better product

    I wanted to believe the hype, but they're not all that smart and do not learn in any way. Ours was a pain to update all the programming at the start of heat season and again to start AC season, you would think you could at least save a couple programs to ease this but no. And then Google ended all support so both the app and Alexa integration both stopped working. This hit a few friends of ours too and we were all scrambling for replacements. I'll never buy a Google product again, and hope they never buy another brand whose products I own.

    The device was fairly easy to install and looks good on the wall. Setup with the wifi in house and the Google Home app is also easy to do.

    This item itself is good, would give it 5 stars except for the difficulty experienced installing it. It was installed by experienced furnace installers who had installed dozens of these before. For starters, the two batteries that came with it were dead. Once we got good batteries they then could not get it to connect to the system. He tried SIX times with no luck. He was actually asking me where I purchased it and discussing the possibility that I just got a lemon. Ended up calling the 1-800 number for help, which took a bit of time, and while waiting on hold, he tried a 7th time and it finally connected to the system. So once installed and up and running it works just as expected. Easy to adjust temperature with the app on your device and also easy to use by tapping on the unit itself. I had to purchase a wall plate separately. Giving it 3 stars due to the dead batteries and the difficulty experienced technicians had installing it.

    Q: I'm looking for a thermostat for my gym. Can I program this for, say, 5 heating/cooling settings through the day?  In other words, instead of "wake, leave, home, sleep" I need to program heat at 5-7am, 9-11am, and 7-9pm on weekdays, 8-11 on Saturdays.

    Q: Does this thermostat have a code lock so the setting can't be tampered with once set.
