Just the right amount of light

I bought these to replace a set I bought 4 years ago. They still work but the old ones have gotten a bit dimmer over the years.
I like how the light swivels to aim it exactly where you want. They're great for lighting a hallway or stairs, or in a dark space where the light switch is across the room.
Very good product at a fair price.

Q: Why doesn't the light shut off when the lights in the room are on during the day?

A: If the light in the room (either natural or from other lights) is below a certain level. Lights put is a secluded place like a corner or not facing the lit area they will stay on. If the room is really light they will shut off. They use an extremely low amount of power.

Q: Why not use with extension cord? This and similar products say to plug these into the wall (not extension cords etc.). Why? If ventilation is adequate, why would that be inappropriate?

A: Nightlights should not be used with extension cords or power bars for safety reasons. According to UL and ETL certifying board standards, they recommend not to use night lights with extension cords to avoid the risk of electric shock and fire hazard.

Q: Is it a resistor or a capacitor used to drop the voltage for the LED.
