Best machete I ever had

I got one for my birthday as part of some camping gear. I used it for work bonfires , camping , you name it , it holds an edge and a saw on the back is really nice.

A: It's poorly made and of no real use for any serious work requiring a machete. The blade is very light and too flexible for it's intended use. Gerber has dropped the ball on this product and a lifetime warranty on a terrible product is simply a waste of time. Look elsewhere. This is a very poor product.

Q: Is there an age restriction to purchase items like this and other knifes? I am going on a trip and need to pick something like this up and was wondering if I needed to bring one of my parents along. I am 17. thanks

A: There are no Canadian Laws regarding age prohibiting you from owning a knife. Some Canadian Tire stores require purchasers to be 18 years old. Please check with your local store before going to buy. Please remember knives are serious tools and should be used responsibly and with respect

Q: Is this a full tang blade? If not, where can I get a quality full tang blade.

A: Gerber Gator Machete, CTC item # 175-0780 is NOT full tang. The Gator Machete Pro, Canadian Tire Item #175-0781 is a full tang Machete. Gerber also makes two other machete's that feature a full tang, the Bolo and Kukri, these are not yet available at CTC. "Full Tang" refers to the fact that the Blade steel extends completely through the grip portion of the handle.
