Great addition to anyone's EDC kit

I bought this as a replacement for a Leatherman Skeletool that I had lost, so sad, and when I picked it up, its my new best friend, I miss the Carabiner of the Skeletool, but hey, I figured for a about $90 it was worth a try, go up buy it, and, hey, I love it, its a great piece of kit, the sheath is amazing, it feels really solid, when you hold it, you know its going to stay with you no matter where you go and the best part is that the sheath fits the Flik quite snuggly, either closed or with the pliers deployed and locked. The Pliers snap into place with a loud series of clicks that should instill a high level of confidence, and hey, they fixed the flik, now, the only thing you have to pull the pliers out to use, is the pliers. Granted the limited amount of space on the Flik for items for screw drivers and the like, they did a pretty good job. though if I could design in, I would have made it longer, and have a bit exchange system not unlike that found on the leatherman, but include some form of bit magazine but that is besides the point. Anyhow back to the review. The knife is great, the steel has no given me any problems yet, the scissors look great, and they preform very well, what can I say, Gerber Steel, they do stand behind every single flik they sell. There are three slots screw drivers, I am thinking about turning one into an awl. The "V" style of wire cutters will but through anything from chain to aircraft cable. And the best part is that is, that after insane use that "V" cutters will still cut chain, they will still cut aircraft cable, and the like, even if the pliers are a wee bit loose. When you close the pliers, the multi-tool feels like its one piece, rock solid. This type of flik comes as a standard on most US Military pilot survival vests. There is also a saying that goes, Marines with Gerbers will take over the world. This would make a great edition to any survival, EDC (Every Day Carry) kit, as it is very versatile. Anyhow, those of you trying to figure out how to deploy the screwdrivers, pull the locking mechanism and the smaller increments pop out a bit. This locking mechanism is one of the strongest that I've seen, the only think that I could imagine that would be stronger is the Buck Redpoint, but thats a review that I'm not going to be writing for a while. The Gerber(c) Saf T LOK slidding lock system is not the smoothest out there, but it sure makes up for it in the security of the lock, once you lock that blade, it ain't going anywhere. you can access all of the tools one handed, though, its safer to access them all with two hands and it may save you some blood. You can close the knife and the serrated knife with one hand, but you must practise, this isn't the most forgiving unlock out there. Great work by Gerber, someone really earned their paycheck in my opinion, but, hey, get your own, and form your own opinion.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Had it for a short time...

Thought this would be the tool for me, I liked the ease of accessability for the pliers. Overall it was more of a novelty to have the pliers flick out. Blades were good, other implements were lacking. Not worth regular price on this item.

No, I do not recommend this product.
