Knife too small

If you're thinking "I might as well just get this since it's the same price as a single knife" then you might be disappointed. The knife is ridiculously small. It's good for picking your nails only. The rest of the kit however, is very good.

Great Value

All items contained in this kit are of good quality. In addition, the value of the kit is already reached with only the fire steel and the knife! The whistle is loud (but no the loudest), the matches are great and the cordage is of good quality and length. Waxed cordage is also of good length and is unscented (which is good for outdoor use). The knife and case are the stand out features as both are rugged and serve their purpose well. Overall, good kit and even of good value if purchased only for a few of the items contained.

A: The Gerber Bear Grylls Basic Survival Kit includes a small Mini Paraframe folding knife. There are no laws on a minimum age to purchase knives in Canada. Some Canadian Tire stores do require purchasers to be 18 years of age to buy a knife, please check with your local dealer.

Q: How much space is there to add items into the bag? I was wondering if there might be enough room to add a button compass, more snare wire, fishhooks and line, water purification tablets and maybe even a thermal blanket. Are the contents already a tight fit when purchased?

A: The basic kit is very tight, you may get the Compass and Snare wire in it. The Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Kit has Fishing hooks and line, Snare wire, Thermal survival Blanket, emergency cord in it already. The vendor indicated they eliminated the water purification tablets as there are government regulations handling this.
