A: Portable also means you need more btu's to do the same job as window one's 5,000btu is good for the size of a washroom that's it for an apartment with one bedroom you need minimum 2-10,000btu ones.

Q: IS there a window insert sold with this unit?
I saw that a window insert was included with a different portable ac model (maybe the 7000 unit). Was wondering if the 5000 unit had this included as well.

A: I've only used this unit in A/C mode with the fan on low, and I can honestly say that it's ridiculously loud. If you're a light sleeper, I wouldn't advise putting it in the bedroom.

Q: Does the how have to go out a window? If so, why does it have to outside?
I live on the 16th floor of an apartment building, and they do not allow any modifications to the windows.

A: All Portable air conditioners must be vented to the outside so that hot air inside can be exhausted outside or else they would be heating and cooling at the same time.
