Q: What's the difference between this model and the Garmin echomap 45 + chirp

A: The main differences are the size of the screens and the Echo map Plus 45 is a fully functioning Chart plotter with preloaded Canada Lake Vu maps. The Striker Plus 5 does not support the marine maps but does offer the ability to track your movements on the water and the ability to mark your waypoints so that you can return to your chosen spots. Both units come with Quickdraw contours which is a huge benefit when boating on an uncharted lake, you can create your own contours by using Quickdraw.
