Good and not so good

As a Dash Cam it works as it should. Extra features not so good, Red light alert, at the same light, same conditions alerts then alerts a second time next day doesn't alert. Go Alert sounds even after being in motion for some distance. Forward collision Warning, will give it a 4 star for its warning when drivers cut in from an adjoining lane. Will keep using it with Red Light and Go Alert disabled. (I do realize a Cyclops subscription is required for updates but the red light issues are at the same old light(s).

Works well, good value

I bought this and installed it in our SUV. The picture quality is good, the wiring supplied was long enough to reach the camera while keeping the wires hidden, installation is easy, and the camera is small. There are some safety features like lane keep assist but I turned them off as we have this on our car. However, the camera does get hot and the setup is a little fiddly.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Overheated and memory card error... same problem with 2 different units

I like the size, image quality, GPS tech and user-friendly software but: 2 different Cameras overheated showing the memory card error "The memory card is degrading and video may be lost. Replace the memory card soon". I replaced the cards 3 times and the error stayed. I contacted Garmin Customer Service and after 6 emails, they suggested to return the cameras to the retailer.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good Basic Camera

Bought in January, I couldn't install for quite some time as the ambient temperature needed to be 70F or above for hours. The little metal disc that adheres to the windshield is temperature sensitive. With a computer, downloading the pictures and videos is easy enough, but if you have 80 videos you can't tell what is what without looking at each video for at least a few seconds. Looking through the Gallery is cumbersome. Saving is awkward. Sharing is almost impossible to figure and requires the Virb app and a constant connection. As far as I can tell there is no way to review or share the videos with the app. I have not been able to use most on-camera features without the use of a computer. Not nearly as slick as I expected. There was a morning I finally had a video I wanted to save or share and I couldn't figure it out in the parking lot and ended up deleting it by accident after almost 15 minutes of trying to figure it out. There is limited on-board battery so if you don't figure it out you run out of time.

  • A: Yes, the Garmin Dash Cam will immediately begin recording video when it is turned on. It will continue to record, overwriting the oldest non-protected videos, until the device is turned off. While recording, the LED near the screen on the device will remain a solid red even if the display has dimmed.
