    Very easy to use

We purchased this gps mainly to use it for paperless geocaching. Love the color touchscreen & it's quick response time. The USB cable is much more convenient than our old gps. No moving buttons to wear out.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    • A: Non, pas vraiment. Le modèle Garmin GPSMAP 78S est probablement mieux pour l'application que vous recherchez.

Q: Looking for a gps that is good for on the water. Is it supplied with compass and will it show speed on the water? Show river inlets?

    1 Answer
    • A: The true ' Marine ' model is the Garmin GPSMAP 78S hand held model which supports the marine navaids and is waterproof and floats. You can purchase hydrographic maps for the charted lakes in Canada and as well there are a number of provincial ' inland ' lake charts available. Depending on the area which you are boating the river inlets should show up without any details in way of depths or hazards. Complete details of this unit are available at www.garmin.com. The Dakota 10 will show you on the water but if you wish to purchase more detailed mapping it will not support all the data on hydrographic maps. The screen on the Dakota 10 is very small to read when moving in a boat and the bouncing around from the waters.

Q: Does this product have a back tracking feature? If not do you have any that do? It is for a boat. Thank you.

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes it has a ' Track back ' feature. When you save a waypoint or starting point and you leave the unit on while you are moving it leaves a ' bread crumb ' trail as you move. You need to save that track when you reach your destination or wish to return on the same route that you took to get where you are now, I suggest naming it so you remember what day or which event you are saving. It is stored in the memory of the unit till you delete it or once you reach the maximum number of tracks available to be saved in your unit. You then decide at that point which track you wish to delete. Consumers can contact Garmin technical support, if they are having difficulties. < www.garmin.com >
