These metal connectors are excellent and very durable. If you want to avoid replacing the plastic ones every couple of years, or you need connectors that will stay in place for years without worry, these are the way to go.

Gardenia are the best hose tools and these metal ones are even better. While I’ve managed to break the plastic Gardenia plastic attachments over the years, these metal ones are nearly indestructible.

Not worth the extra money

I bought both the plastic and the metal version of Gardena's Quick Connect starter sets, as the store did not have enough stock in hand to meet my needs. Unfortunately, both of them equally leaked at the connection joint. They sealed well to the hoses and apprentice that was being used.
The funny / sad thing that I noticed in my trial run was that:
1) when I metal to metal or plastic to plastic both sets of joins leaked equally bad/sever and in my opinion is unacceptable as it seemed like 25 - 50 percent of the water was shooting out of the connection joint when the water was turned on, but not in use.
but
2) when I connected plastic to metal or metal to plastic the leakage was less sever and would be acceptable if the water line was shut off when not in use.
and
3)the leakage was less when the lines were in use, but only the plastic to metal connection was acceptable when the lines were in use.
