With handle parallel to connector, water flows through the unit. If turned at right angles, the water does not flow through.

I have purchased a number of these items and overall I'm satisfied. These are very practical to have at the end of a hose when using quick connecting accessories. However, make sure you don't throw your hose on the ground with this item on it. The shock from the fall can loosen the joint and it will spring a leak.

Q: If I just want to have water coming out of the hose without it automatically stopping, can I just turn this unit's valve on? Or will it still stay stopped until an accessory is connected?

A: The Gardena connector has a valve that can be left open so water will flow through, or alternatively, the valve could be closed and water would be stopped and not flow through.
