Product works great.

Coming from another brand of standard stuff finder, this product works so much better! I'm extremely happy with it so far. Been using it to install new bathroom cabinets and it is amazingly easy to use.

Q: Will this work through plaster walls that vary between 1 inch and 1-1/4 inch thick in places?

1 Answer
  • A: Many consumers have reported success finding studs with the ProSensor 710 in lath and plaster walls. Lath and plaster walls present unique difficulties because they require reading through multiple types of material and have more inconsistencies in the thickness of the walling material, so most stud finders won’t work at all. On the other hand, the ProSensor 710 will usually give consistent readings as long as the walling material is less than 2.5cm thick. We cannot guarantee it like we would on regular drywall, but the consumer feedback is generally successful for the ProSensor 710 on lath and plaster.

Q: will it find nails in wooden studs behind one layer of gyproc and one layer of plastic (shower surround)?

1 Answer
  • A: It depends on the thickness of the gyproc and the thickness of the plastic. Based on a standard thickness of a dry wall (1.59 cm), and a flexible shower surround, it shouldn't have issues. In a real-world conditions, this unit will read up to 4.06cm.

Q: Will it show wood joists through resilient channel in ceilings?

1 Answer
  • A: The ProSensor 710 will not show wood joists through the metal resilient channel. It will show the location and width of the channels. To locate the studs, the user can place the ProSensor 710 on the walling material between the metal channel pieces. As long as the wood studs/joists are not much more than 1” from the surface of the walling material, the ProSensor 710 will accurately indicate the stud location.
