Nice design but too fragile .

I’ve had this compost collector for 4 months and the spring and pivot hinge just broke. Seems like the plastic dried up. The complementry composts bags had disintgrated too.
Canadian tire refused to replace it because it was a month over the warrenty

I was skeptical, but works great!

I was getting pretty sick and tired of the "standard" bucket I got for compostable collection, now that it's required in the city. The bucket got warped over from the heat generated by the decomposing contents, and was always a heaven for fruit flies and their eggs. The bags would get very messy and wet, and the whole affair was disgusting.
Since this device says it's all super ventilated, I was skeptical, how could that possibly help things, I thought, but I had to buy a new bucket, so I decided to try this.
It really works! No smells whatsoever, only for a little while if you put in wet things and until they dry out. Zero fruit flies attracted. Adding on to that, since I don't generate a lot of compostable waste (I finish my food!) the bags now last much longer before I have to take them out, which will pay in savings for the extra cost of this thing very soon. I used to have to change bags every week, now it can easily go a month or more.
The only downside of it is that it's a little on the small side. Not a problem for me, but may be for others.

We love this!

We have owned this for over a year and it's great. Super easy to use with the one touch button opener, and the smell does NOT seep out! We honestly couldn't believe it, as we put pretty stinky stuff in there! I do not recommend putting it in the dishwasher though. It did seem to change shape slightly after we did this once. Easy enough to wash by hand. I highly recommend!

The bags don't sweat which improves their performance. Having said that, it comes with 5 rather durable compost bags which cannot be purchased in store. I bought a box of Frank Mint X bags and they are much thinner and inspire less confidence. I would love to buy a supply of the stronger bags. Why CT doesn't carry them I can't say?

A: Il est fait pour l'intérieur de la maison, une fois qu'il est plein on le dépose dans le bac extérieur de composte et on en utilise un nouveau dans la cuisine. Il y a 5 bacs par paquet.
