Nice piece of furniture

Bought this for an apartment. It is sturdy and a good size work area. The pencil drawer can double as keyboard tray if you want but in our case it's just storage. The instructions were clear and all the parts were there. Drawers adjust so don't panic if you put them in and they don't line up at first. They say not to use a drill for the screws and for the most part there is no need, but when you put the feet on there are 16 screws so I carefully cheated. The only complaint is nailing the back board on. Line it up carefully and make sure nails are straight or you'll punch through. It took 2 of us a couple of hours to put together at a leisurely pace. Would buy again!

Q: Can flip-down drawer hold papers? I am looking for a desk for my son to do homework but mainly his drawing. I would like a drawer for him to tuck away 'works in progress'. Is the flip-down pencil drawer large enough to hold 8.5 x 11 paper?

Q: Is the desk made of solid wood?

A: Sauder furniture is made from an environmentally friendly material called 'engineered wood,' a combination of high quality hard wood and soft wood materials which are residuals of other lumber processes. These materials are bonded together with a synthetic resin, and then applied to high heat and pressure. The result is dense, strong panels which are then laminated and cut into pieces. Engineered wood is made to precise design specifications which are tested to meet national standards.
