It serves it's purpose... not nearly as nice as the Ikea cube shelves, but for the price (especially Black Friday sale price), it's fine. If you choose not to put those back pieces on "the unit may collapse". Don't lift it from the top, the shelf will come right off. Assembly was fine, annoying, but fine. Need a drill and a hammer.

A: Absolutely. They come with pre-drilled holes on the top and bottom of the units and dowels to allow you to stack them. You can stack in any combination (2 - 9 cube units, 1 - 9 cube and 1 - 6 cube unit or 2 - 6 cube units.

A: The For Living 9-Cube Storage Organizer has inner cube dimensions of 11 1/4" W x 11 5/8" D x 11 1/4" H, given these dimensions, the cubes should be suitable for storing men's size 11 shoes, though it might be a snug fit

Q: As is a square I´m not sure what side should go up and which on the side. One is smooth and the other has 8 holes for the screws. The instructions show the smooth is on the top, but the picture in the box shows the contrary. One is wrong. Which is right?
