    10Q drain pan

    This drain pan is not functional at all. i just did my oil change with it on my wrx and it overfilled within seconds. i spilt so much oil on myself, the pavement, everywhere. literally just spent four hours cleaning up oil. It also advertises as leak proof, which is also just not true. i have trouble getting the air flow tab to even close, and i filled it, and it literally started leaking out of every cap.

    No, I do not recommend this product.

    Despite the many negative reviews I'm seeing on here, this oil drain pan works just fine for my 3.6 l Dodge Journey. After two oil changes I never had any problems with the pooling area overflowing.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    I am accustomed to changing my oil with a mixing bowl, which is super easy to spill. I wasn't sure that the top catch tray was deep enough, but I tried it, and it did not overflow. It is however important that you make sure the input port is on the lower side if you are not changing your oil on flat ground. I would probably also use one of these for changing coolant if it were large enough. And the best part is: I just need to put a cap on it, wipe down the lid, and put it away. No screwing around with re-pouring into other containers.

    Q: How quickly does oil drain into the container if it's coming out of the vehicle fast? Are the people reporting slow draining and overflow maybe just not opening the air vent? Or is that an actual issue?

    • A: Yes there is the risk of overflow but I found with my 7L oil tank on a 1993 Pajero Mitsubishi, it reached the brim but did not spill its boundary. I prefer this product over a regular oil pan due to the mobility aspect of its design.

    Q: I’m very confused. I bought this thinking the top would come off or something to catch the oil easily. Do you have to win the oil into the little holes on top or am I missing something ?

    • A: The oil is supposed to be drained onto the large surface with the container laying flat. Then it slowly flows into the container. After that you can clean that surface and then store the container upright.
