    Transmission lines replaced

The transmission lines were not tightened and came loose in the middle of town. Oil everywhere and had to get a tow/$130 . Not impressed and ruined my day.

2 months and 1000 kms, there are signs of seepage.

About 2 months and 1,000 kms since I changed the automatic transmission fluid (ATF), and there are signs of seepage around the pan bolts, but no drips on ground. I thought I torqued the bolts to 89 in-lbs, but at about 800 kms, I noticed the seepage, and inspected the pan bolts, and they all needed to be re-torqued. I will give some benefit of doubt, and say that maybe I didn't have my torque wrench with me the first time. With that said, the gasket in the kit is all black rubber, and does not have the 2 placement plugs that the old gasket had. The old gasket also had an inner metal layer, so rubber-metal-rubber. So the gasket in this kit seems to be of lower quality than whatever the dealership uses. The seal and filter went on fine, so can't say too much about that. Other than the seepage, which may have been my fault, this kit seems satisfactory. About 7.5L of ATF drained into the Little Giant 15 Gallon Black Poly Stock Tank, so I refilled about 7.5L of Castrol Transmax® ATF/CVT Universal Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid, 5-L (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/castrol-transmax-atf-cvt-universal-full-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid-5-l-0289367p.html). Checked overfill bolt while car was running, and still on jack stands, and just a little ATF trickled out. Car is at almost 316,000 kms, and this is the 3rd ATF change, and the first time I did this job myself. Took me 4 hours, no rush. Performance-wise, a while ago, the passenger-side axle popped out somehow, and the car lost some ATF, and the car had trouble shifting into top gear. Now, shifting is smoooth. I still think about changing the axles one day, but for now, I think the transmission still has a lot of life in 'er.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Pan Gasket Does this product include the transmission pan gasket or is it the filter only?

    • A: Its a "kit" so you can pretty much assume it has all you need, which is Filter, Gasket, and perhaps some sort of rubber seal on the inside. For sure though they can open it in store for you and you can take a look.
