Didn't Work for Most Recent Repair But Did Great Job in Past

I have used this product going back to the 1980's to repair flats. My most recent use in spring of last year the product did exactly what it is intended to do-it inflated my tire and repaired the puncture that did not require any further patching. I drove over 2500 KM last year on that repair. When I was in Ontario the product was so good I drove on a tire repaired with this product for over 3 years before replacing the tire completely. In the most recent incident the product failed to inflate the tire and did not seal the nail puncture. I had to also go and use a service station air compressor to inflate the tire that should have been done by the product. As for taking the tire into repair at a Canadian Tire store that also turned into a disaster that highlights the reality of the failure of this product was then complained about by a mechanic saying that the stuff doesn't work and should not be used. When a Canadian tire employed mechanic also gives this recommendation resulted in me returning the product. Frankly I can not explain why the product worked well last spring but not this time. I still will use the product mindful that it can have results only if it also inflates the tire at the same time

Q: Can this be used on a “run flat” tire?

1 Answer
  • A: We do not recommend installing Fix-a-Flat into run flat tires. Run flat tires are not designed for tire sealant as the run flat tire structure was specifically created to indicate a flat and still be safe to drive on for a short period of time. Additionally, some run flat tires have a foam insert to help support the run flat concept. If the tire does have the foam insert, sealant will be absorbed in the foam and will not reach the puncture hole. Please email us at customerservice@itwgtr.com if you have any questions.

Q: can the product resist canada's winter, i mean just leave it at the trunk for the whole winter

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, the product will stay good even if it freezes. You will just have to warm up the can to room temperature before using and shake it up really well. If you have further questions, please email us at customerservice@itwgtr.com

Q: Will this product repair a leak in an air mattress? Or is there a product that will work??

1 Answer
  • A: No, this tire sealant will not work with an air mattress. This product requires complete interior coverage, which is achieved by the rotation of the tire (not possible with an air mattress), and high pressure (35-45psi). An air mattress is typically only 3-5psi. We would prefer to recommend a patch kit for your repair.

Q: I have a 4 tires for a mini 100 cc ATV the tires are 16x8.00-7. All of the tires have little leaks. Can one can repair all tires and is the spray permanent?

1 Answer
  • A: Fix-a-Flat is an emergency use product for highway tires. It would not be a good solution for your ATV. Have you considered Slime tire sealant? It stops slow leaks and can stay in your tire to prevent flats for up to two years. Look for the blue label bottle (#10008). Q: I have a wheelbarrow tire that has a small leak how long will the tire stay infalted

1 Answer
  • A: Hi! Fix-a-Flat is for use in highway vehicles only. It will not help your wheelbarrow tire. But Slime tire sealant makes a great product for your wheelbarrow tire! You can inject Slime and it will stop slow leaks and prevent flat tires for up to 2 years! If your wheelbarrow has tubes, grab the red label bottle (Part #10003 or #10004). If your wheelbarrow has tubeless tires, then grab the blue bottle (Part #10007 or #10008). Hope that helps!

Q: Will Fix a Flat freeze inside the tire in the winter or sub zero temperature?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, your can of Fix-a-Flat will freeze if the temperature falls below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The product in the can is not damaged and may be used after thawing (we recommend warming the can using your vehicle’s interior heater vent). If the product is in the tire, and freezing weather is predicted, then immediately take the vehicle to a qualified tire professional for repair.
