Absolute must for any seasoned camper!

I was strugging with wet, end of season wood at a provincial campground and my hatchet was simply not cutting it even after beating on it with a hammer. I had real reservations with dishing out money for what looked like a small wood maul but went and did it. Absolute NO regrets... wife agrees this little maul had more than paid for itself the first week we used it. If you are a seasoned camper and understand the value of splitting your wood then this is a MUST HAVE. Don't let the small size fool you- it splits wood with little effort and works great with a hatchet and hammer to double or even triple the pieces you've collected from the firewood bin. I 110% would reccomend this to anyone looking for a great camping solution to processing firewood.

Cute Little Mail great for smaller logs under 8in in diameter. Sharp edge and good weight makes it handy for smaller splits. The mallet end is useful for camping too.

A perfect addition to the box of camping gear. Able to pound a stubborn stake and handily split wood with the same product. Very happy and exactly what ao was looking for. Came with a nice ballistic nylon soft cover for the blade.

A: Thank you for contacting Fiskars. Yes, a maul does require sharpening. Remember not to over-sharpen; the goal is to prevent the maul from bouncing off the wood while splitting. There are several articles online detailing how to correctly sharpen a maul.
